Our Services and Philosphy
Dogs are already fully trained when it comes to acting like, well, a dog! Barking, digging, chewing, even growling and biting are all things that are natural to your dog but not always appreciated by socialized humans. We will show you all the little clues your dog gives to let you know what they are thinking. Simple eye expressions, such as blinking or staring, can be powerful tools when used correctly. Our dogs are such naturals at being in tune with our body language and verbal tones; they have been perfecting their skills for generations. Now it's your turn to take control and be one step ahead - as the pack leader should!
At Von Dubinhaus Dog Training located in Portland, Oregon, our training philosophy is balanced approach, utilizing both positive and corrective dog training techniques depending on each individual dog and the behavior being displayed. We use an array of tools ranging from a squirt bottle, treats (lots of them!), squeaky ball, easy walk harness, soft collar, as well as various corrective collars, as needed.
Therapeutic techniques are also part of our toolbox, and we utilize products such as therapeutic grade essential oils, CBD oil, hemp treats, soliquinn, and in some cases pharmaceuticals to assist with behavioral modification.
We specialize in the most difficult behavior problems, including intense human and dog aggression, and take great pride in saving dogs from the animal shelter system or euthanasia and keeping them right where they belong, with their families!

Temperament Test
All potential clients are required to schedule an initial temperament test, so we can evaluate your dog in-person before proceeding with a recommended training regiment.

($20 for each additional dog)

For dogs that need more than weekly sessions, our Board & Train program delivers immersive, around-the-clock training right here at our facility. Over a minimum of four weeks, we work to build routine, structure, and confidence in your dog — while systematically replacing unwanted behaviors with lasting ones.
This program is ideal for dogs who need focused, consistent work in a dedicated environment. No distractions. Just real progress.

General Boarding
Heading out of town? Our boarding service welcomes all dogs — whether you're a training client or not. Your dog will be comfortable, cared for, and in great hands while you're away.

Doggie Daycare
Got a long day ahead? We've got your pup covered. Drop them off and head to work knowing they're in good hands — socializing, playing, and getting the attention they deserve.

Bath & Brush
Keep your pup looking and feeling their best. Our bath and brush service includes a full brush-out, wash, and blow dry — available as a standalone appointment or as an add-on to any of our other services.
